The Journey to the Deep: Riding the Currents of Your Soul

There is an ocean within each of us. Its waters are alive with movement, shaping our lives with three primal rhythms: the waves, the tides, and the depths. These are not separate forces but expressions of the same current—layers of existence that urge us to act, to reach, and to remember.
I’ve felt these rhythms in my life. The waves that crash with urgency, commanding attention. The tides that pull, steady and unseen, toward something greater. And the depths—the vast, silent truth beneath it all, holding everything together. Each rhythm calls us to awaken, to step into what is real, and to return to what has always been within us.
It begins with the waves.
The waves are restless, crashing and retreating with ceaseless energy. They are the immediate spark of desire, the bright flame of ambition that makes life feel electric. The waves say, “Go. Move. Reach for it now.” They are the pulse of possibility, urging us to take the first step, to leap, to risk.
The waves make us feel alive. They are exhilarating, intoxicating even. But their power is fleeting. The waves are not meant to sustain us—they are meant to awaken us. They teach us to begin, to act, to trust the momentum. Yet, as the waves rise and fall, they remind us that there is more.
Beneath the surface lies the tides.
The tides are quieter than the waves, but their pull is stronger. They do not crash—they guide. The tides speak of longing, of the deeper call that draws us toward purpose. While the waves thrive on immediacy, the tides live in the realm of the enduring.
I’ve felt the tides as a pull toward something I couldn’t name but knew instinctively. They don’t ask for quick answers or simple actions. They ask for patience, for surrender, for trust in what is unfolding. The tides say, “Come closer. There is more for you here.”
The tides challenge me. They ask me to leave behind the easy wins, the surface pursuits, and to step into the sacred unknown. They are the whisper of a larger story, a story that calls me to move beyond what I know and toward what I am becoming.
And yet, beneath the tides lies something deeper still: the depths.
The depths are vast and unshakable. They do not move like the waves or pull like the tides—they simply are. The depths hold the truth of who we are, the essence of purpose that remains when everything else is stripped away.
When I sit with the depths, I feel their weight and stillness. The depths don’t demand recognition or validation. They are the quiet force that grounds us, the eternal knowing that says, “This is who you are. This is why you are here.”
The depths are not concerned with appearances or applause. They do not chase or pull. They simply hold. And when I allow myself to sink into them, I remember what truly matters.
There are moments when these rhythms align, when the waves, tides, and depths come together in a force so powerful it feels like everything is illuminated. In these moments, the waves spark my action, the tides guide my direction, and the depths anchor me in truth.
But more often, the rhythms feel at odds. The waves can distract me with their urgency, pulling me away from the steadiness of the tides. The tides can feel overwhelming, asking me to trust what I cannot yet see. And the depths can feel distant, their quiet presence obscured by the noise above.
To live fully is to honor all three. To ride the waves with courage, to follow the tides with trust, and to rest in the depths with faith. Together, these rhythms teach me who I am and who I am becoming.
The waves remind me to act, to move, to risk.
The tides pull me toward meaning, asking me to align with what is sacred.
The depths anchor me in purpose, holding the truth that guides it all.
Each rhythm plays its part. Each one shapes the story of our lives. They are not separate forces but layers of the same ocean, flowing together to reveal the path of becoming.
So I ask myself, and I ask you:
Are you riding the waves, feeling the thrill of the moment?
Are you following the tides, trusting their quiet pull toward something greater?
Are you resting in the depths, allowing their stillness to remind you of who you are?
The rhythms are always there, waiting for us to feel their power, to let them shape us, to guide us home. They remind us that life is not a straight line but a dynamic flow—a movement that carries us closer to the truth we seek.
Each rhythm teaches us something vital. Together, they reveal not just purpose, but transformation.
Ride the waves. Trust the tides. Rest in the depths.
And in doing so, remember: you are the ocean.
